Course Introduction

BIM models can contain a large amount of project information, but their real construction value appears when that information helps teams solve coordination and execution problems before they reach the field. Design interfaces, spatial conflicts, incomplete information, sequencing constraints, and differences between model intent and site reality can create rework and disruption when BIM is treated mainly as a modeling or visualization tool rather than as an active construction coordination environment.

Boost Consulting & Training has designed this course around the practical use of BIM between design coordination and site execution. Participants will learn how to review multidisciplinary models from a construction perspective, detect and prioritize clashes, evaluate constructability, coordinate model-based resolutions, connect BIM information with work sequencing, and use model information to support field teams. The program is platform-independent and focuses on engineering workflows and decisions rather than software commands.

The main concept of this course is to use BIM as a shared construction coordination environment that converts model information into buildable, coordinated, and field-ready solutions.

Course Objectives

  • Explain the role of BIM in construction coordination and field execution.
  • Review multidisciplinary models from a constructability and execution perspective.
  • Identify and prioritize clashes according to their actual construction impact.
  • Coordinate technical resolutions across structural, architectural, civil, and MEP interfaces.
  • Evaluate model information for completeness and readiness before construction.
  • Apply BIM information to construction sequencing and work-package coordination.
  • Connect model-based decisions with drawings, field information, and site activities.
  • Establish practical BIM coordination workflows that support construction delivery.
