Course Introduction

Contractor work is becoming more complex as organizations rely on multiple specialist providers, subcontractors, temporary teams, and outsourced services operating simultaneously across changing worksites. Different employers, procedures, competencies, work priorities, and risk perceptions may overlap within the same operation, creating safety gaps that are difficult to control through traditional contractor induction and compliance checks alone.

Boost Consulting & Training has designed this course to develop a more integrated and dynamic approach to contractor safety management. Participants learn how to evaluate contractor safety capability before work begins, establish clear control interfaces, coordinate simultaneous activities, manage subcontractor chains, strengthen permit and communication practices, and maintain effective oversight as work conditions change. The program shifts the focus from checking contractor compliance to actively managing the risks created at the boundaries between organizations.

The main concept of this course is to create a connected contractor safety system in which responsibilities, risks, controls, and changing work conditions remain visible and coordinated throughout the entire contracting lifecycle.

Course Objectives

  • Identify safety vulnerabilities that arise when contractors and multiple organizations share the same workplace.
  • Evaluate contractor HSE capability and readiness before mobilization and work commencement.
  • Establish clear safety responsibilities and interfaces between clients, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Coordinate risks arising from simultaneous operations and changing work conditions.
  • Strengthen permit-to-work, communication, handover, and control-verification practices.
  • Monitor contractor safety using risk-based indicators rather than relying solely on compliance statistics.
  • Manage safety performance, deviations, changes, and emerging risks throughout contract execution.
  • Develop an integrated contractor safety approach covering selection through completion and closeout.
