Course Introduction

Traditional maintenance decisions are often driven either by fixed schedules or by equipment failure. Yet many assets provide measurable signs of deterioration long before functional failure occurs. Changes in vibration, temperature, lubrication condition, electrical behavior, pressure, or other operating parameters can reveal developing problems and create an opportunity to intervene at the right time. The challenge is not simply collecting condition data but converting it into reliable maintenance decisions.

Boost Consulting & Training offers this course to develop a practical approach to predictive maintenance built around equipment condition and deterioration intelligence. The program explores failure development, condition indicators, monitoring techniques, data interpretation, alert and alarm logic, trend analysis, diagnostic reasoning, and intervention decisions. Participants learn how to distinguish meaningful deterioration from normal variation and use condition evidence to plan maintenance before equipment performance is lost.

The main concept of this course is to move maintenance decisions from fixed intervals and unexpected failures toward evidence-based intervention guided by the actual condition of the asset.

Course Objectives

  • Explain how predictive maintenance supports asset reliability and reduces unplanned intervention.
  • Identify equipment deterioration patterns that can be detected before functional failure.
  • Select appropriate condition indicators for different asset types and failure mechanisms.
  • Distinguish the practical applications of major condition monitoring techniques.
  • Interpret trends, deviations, alerts, and condition changes in maintenance data.
  • Differentiate normal operating variation from meaningful signs of deterioration.
  • Determine appropriate maintenance responses based on condition evidence.
  • Develop a practical predictive maintenance approach for selected critical assets.
